Bible story: Jesus' triumphal entry on a donkey

Creative activities based on the Bible story of Jesus' triumphal entry on a donkey

The account of Jesus entering Jerusalem on a donkey is found in all four Gospels: Matthew 21:1-11, Mark 11:1-11, Luke 19:28-44, and John 12:12-19. As Jesus approached Jerusalem, he sent two disciples ahead to fetch a donkey for him to ride on. The disciples laid their cloaks on the donkey, and Jesus rode into the city as a fulfillment of the prophecy in Zechariah 9:9, "Say to Daughter Zion, 'See, your king comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey, and on a colt, the foal of a donkey.'" The people welcomed him as a king, laying their cloaks and palm branches on the ground and shouting, "Hosanna!"
