Object lesson - OT: Joshua's defeat at Ai - It's hard to humble yourself

A fun object lesson for your Sunday school lesson on Joshua and the defeat at Ai.

Use this object lesson to tell the Bible story of Joshua, who wants to take the village of Ai. Instead of being obedient and trusting in God, Joshua decides to trust in his own strength. He wants to stretch himself instead of humbling himself before God. How do you illustrate this rather complicated story in such a way that children will listen attentively and understand what it is about? 

Using a rope and a game we can look with the children at what is means to bow before God and rely on Him instead of our own strength.
