Object lesson - NT: Life of Jesus: Paralysed man - It’s hard working together
The friends in this story had to work well together in order to make sure that the paralysed man could get to see Jesus
It’s not always easy to work together. It can be hard for adults, but equally so for children. You can use the statements below to talk about this with the children.
This activity is part of a complete Sunday School lesson on the story of Jesus healing the paralysed man in Matthew 9:1–8, Mark 2:1–12, and Luke 5:17–26.

Let's start...
Activity
Talk to the children, using the statements below. Ask them to hold up the green card if they agree with the statement, or the red card if they disagree. Ask a few children each time why they held up the red or green card:
- I find working together hard
- Working together works best if other people listen to me
- It’s easier to work together if you can do it with friends
- It’s easier to work together if you can do it with people you don’t know
- It’s easier to work together if you’re doing something for a good cause
- I enjoy working together
- Sometimes we get into arguments if we have to work together
- If things go wrong when we’re working together, it’s never my fault
- I think it was clever of these four friends to lower their paralysed friend down through the roof.
